What is the Dino Depot?

The Dino Depot is a web-based dino management system that works closely with the Cryo Breeding Lab. It serves as a holding area for dinos stored in the system that are not currently active in a breeding chamber.

The Depot at a Glance

The system has three areas where your dinos can reside:

Area Description
Depot General storage – dinos wait here for their next deployment
Breeding Chambers (Slots) Active breeding – dinos in chambers are paired automatically
In-Game Dinos are cryopods on the ARK with you

Why Use the Depot?

  • Unlimited Storage: No inventory or base space constraints
  • Clear Overview: All dinos at a glance, filtered by chamber
  • Instant Download: Transfer directly into the game whenever you want
  • Flexible Breeding Prep: Move dinos from depot directly into breeding chambers
  • No Mods Required: Runs entirely server-side via your dashboard

Getting Started

Accessing the Depot

You can reach the depot via:

  • Your personal Dashboard → Top navigation → "Depot"
  • Direct URL: /depot
  • From the Breeding Lab via the "Depot" navigation button

Prerequisites

Before you can use the depot, dinos must first be loaded into the system via the Terminal:

  1. In-Game: Go to a transmitter (Obelisk, City Terminal, Tek Transmitter)
  2. Upload Dinos: Place your cryopods into the terminal inventory
  3. Open Terminal: Navigate to /terminal on your dashboard
  4. Sync: Click "Load Terminal Dinos" – the dinos will land in the system

Newly imported dinos initially land in a breeding chamber. From there you can move them to the depot if you don't want to breed them immediately.

Note: When you move a dino from the breeding lab to the depot (via the "To Depot" button), it automatically lands in the depot and is available there for later use.

The Depot Interface

Two-Column Layout

The depot is split into two columns:

Left Column – DEPOT - Shows all dinos stored in the general depot - These dinos are not participating in active breeding - Always available for download or moving to breeding chambers

Right Column – SYSTEM - Shows dinos in active breeding chambers - Select the desired chamber (1–5) at the top - Only dinos of the same species can be in the same chamber

Dino Cards

Each dino card shows: - Gender symbol (♂ blue / ♀ pink) - Species name (auto-detected) - Dino name (if named) - Level (base level from wild stats) - Stat panel (HP, Stam, Melee, Weight – base and level points) - Action buttons (Download / To Chamber or To Depot)

Chamber Selection

Use the dropdown menu at the top right to select the target chamber for moves:

Select target chamber: [ CHAMBER 1 ▼ ]

When you move a depot dino into a chamber, the currently selected chamber is automatically used as the target.

Moving Dinos into the Depot

From the Breeding Lab

In the Cryo Breeding Lab (/breeder), every dino in a chamber has a "To Depot" button. One click moves the dino to the depot immediately – it will no longer participate in automatic pairing.

When is this useful? - You've finished a breeding line and want to preserve the parent dinos - A dino is in the wrong chamber and needs to be "parked" temporarily - You're collecting dinos for future breeding projects

From the System (Chamber → Depot)

In the right column of the depot you can see all dinos in breeding chambers. Use the "To Depot" button (← arrow) to move a dino from a chamber to the depot.

Using Dinos from the Depot

Depot → Breeding Chamber

  1. Select the target chamber in the chamber dropdown at the top right
  2. Click "To Chamber" (→ arrow) on the desired depot dino
  3. The dino is moved into the selected chamber and will immediately start participating in automatic pairing

Important Rules: - Only breedable species can be moved into breeding chambers - Per chamber: Only one species (Chamber 1 = Rex only, Chamber 2 = Giga only, etc.) - If a chamber already contains dinos of a species, only further dinos of that species will be accepted

Tip: You can drag & drop dinos from the depot to the system column – faster and easier on desktop!

Downloading Dinos into the Game

Direct Download from the Depot

Any dino in the depot (or in breeding chambers) can be downloaded directly into the game:

  1. Make sure you're on the correct ARK (the desired map must be online)
  2. Click the "Download" button on the dino
  3. A cryopod appears directly in your inventory on the ARK
  4. The dino is removed from the depot/chamber

What gets transferred? - ✅ All wild stats (base genome) - ✅ All level points - ✅ All mutation markers - ✅ All 6 pigmentations (colors) - ✅ Gender - ✅ Name - ✅ Growth stage (for juveniles)

Troubleshooting Downloads

"EOS ID not found": - You need to have logged in on the cluster at least once - Join a server and reload the page

"Survivor not found": - You must be actively online on an ARK map - Wait 30 seconds after logging in and try again

"ARK not reachable": - The desired map is offline or in hibernate mode - Start the map via the Dashboard and wait until it's online

Drag & Drop Controls

On desktop devices, the depot supports full Drag & Drop:

Depot → System (Chamber)

  1. Click and hold a dino card from the left (depot) column
  2. Drag it to the right (system) column
  3. Release – the dino is moved to the currently selected chamber

System → Depot

  1. Click and hold a dino card from the right (system) column
  2. Drag it to the left (depot) column
  3. Release – the dino lands in the depot

Note: On mobile devices (touch), the action buttons are available instead. Drag & drop is disabled on touch devices.

Interaction with the Breeding Lab

The depot and the breeding lab are closely linked. Here's the typical workflow:

Workflow: Breeding Cycle

Terminal (In-Game Upload) ↓ Breeding Chamber (Automatic Pairing) ↓ Offspring Archive (Check & raise babies) ↓ Depot (Park finished dinos) ↓ Download (Back into the game)

Workflow: Building a Dino Collection

  1. Tame strong dinos on the ARK
  2. Place them in a transmitter → load them into the system via /terminal
  3. Move them to the depot for overview
  4. When ready to breed: Move dino from depot → breeding chamber
  5. Finished offspring → depot → download when needed

Navigation Between Tools

The depot provides direct links to all web tools:

Link Function
Dashboard Profile, points, quests
Terminal Import new dinos from the game
Breeding Lab Manage active breeding and offspring
